Maria Di Biase completed her PhD in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne in 2018. During her candidature, she led the single largest neuroimaging study of neuroinflammation in schizophrenia and published some of first evidence of connectivity changes across stages of the disorder. Maria’s research uses interdisciplinary expertise in psychiatry, neuroscience and graph theory to understand brain networks and pathology in schizophrenia. Maria has recently joined the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Her focus is on applying in vivo brain-imaging approaches to pinpoint novel treatment targets for individuals with schizophrenia.
