Research Inquiries

We recognize the challenges faced by Neuroscientists while deciding an appropriate scan protocol that is geared towards their particular needs. For example, the diffusion MRI acquisition protocol for children with ADHD should be quite different from that for adult schizophrenia. Further, other imaging modalities like fMRI, T1-weighted or T2-weighted images are also typically acquired as part of the acquisition protocol. A common question then is: What acquisition protocol should I use? Another pertinent and equally important question is: What analysis methods should I use? (For example, which analysis model or tractography algorithm to use.)

At the PNL, we have experience developing appropriate scan protocols and analysis methods for several multi-site imaging studies. We can help you design a scan sequence that is just right for you. In particular, we provide consultation services for the following:

  • Diffusion MRI sequence design – which b-values to use and how many gradient directions to use.
  • Diffusion MRI analysis pipeline – Methods for doing eddy current and motion correction along with EPI distortion correction.
  • Best dMRI model and tractography – We provide several options for doing tractography based on the type of data that was acquired.
  • Other – Functional MRI and T1 and T2 weighted image acquisition and analysis protocols.
