💸Qiang Liu has been awarded a Trainee (Educational) Stipend for 2025 ISMRM & ISMRT Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Hawaii.

To promote communication, research, development, applications and the availability of information on magnetic resonance in medicine and biology and other related topics internationally; to develop and provide channels and facilities for continuing education and communication in the field; to ensure that scientists and clinicians working in the field have equal and fair opportunities to contribute to it.

📖 A big achievement for Dr. Nikos Makris and colleagues on their latest publication! Combined T1-weighted MRI and diffusion MRI tractography of paraventricular, locus coeruleus, and dorsal vagal complex connectivity in brainstem-hypothalamic nuclei

Their study explores brainstem-hypothalamic connectivity using combined T1-weighted MRI and diffusion MRI tractography, providing new insights into the neural pathways of the paraventricular nucleus, locus coeruleus, and dorsal vagal complex.

📖Great work by Fan Zhang, Lauren O’Donnell, and the rest of the research team on thier recent publication! “Assessment of the Depiction of Superficial White Matter Using Ultra‐High‐Resolution Diffusion MRI”

Investigation into superficial white matter (SMW) mapping using ultra‐high‐resolution diffusion MRI (0.76‐mm isotropic). Compared to standard data (1.25‐mm isotropic), significantly enhanced performance is achieved, particularly in short‐range SWM connections under 40 mm. To enable the study of finer details of SWM, future work should consider moving beyond standard dMRI.

💰Dr. Suheyla Cetin Karayumak Receives the 2020 Brain and Behavior Research Foundation Young Investigator Grant

August 2020: Dr. Suheyla Cetin Karayuma received the 2020 Brain and Behavior Research Foundation Young Investigator Grant for her grant proposal titled “Association of prenatal cannabis exposure and psychotic experiences in adolescents: a harmonized multi-site diffusion MRI study”. BBRF Young Investigator Grants enable promising investigators to either extend research fellowship training or begin careers as independent research faculty. The goal of the program is to help researchers launch careers in neuroscience and psychiatry and gather pilot data to apply for larger federal and university grants.
