Yogesh received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2006 from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. He obtained a Masters in Mathematics and Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India in 1997. He has also worked extensively in the software industry, with experience in entire product life cycle development.

His research interests lie in developing smart imaging techniques to understand brain structure and function. He has developed several compressed sensing algorithms for fast imaging of diffusion MRI — a technology that is now being used to obtain advanced MRI scans of children with ADHD (Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). He has also developed tractography algorithms to reliably trace white matter connections in the brain, which has been used by several neuroscience researchers. In particular, the method has demonstrated the existence of a particular sub-part of a white matter connection (MdLF) in-vivo in several human subjects. His broad research focus is in the areas of signal and image-processing, statistics, control theory, machine learning, computer vision and related applications to solve problems in medical imaging. He has also conducted research in tracking, segmentation and registration of medical images and statistical shape analysis.
