Suheyla Cetin Karayumak completed her PhD at Sabanci University in Istanbul in 2016. She received the 2017 IEEE PHD Dissertation Award with her PhD thesis in Turkey. She studied under the supervision of Prof. Gozde Unal. During her PhD studies, she provided solutions to several medical imaging problems. She developed a fast and easy-to-use vessel segmentation method which was capable of extracting vascular structures in various medical imaging modalities. She also worked on Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) reconstruction. Additionally, she developed a method for modeling asymmetry in white matter fibers. She joined the PNL as a postdoctoral research fellow in November 2016. Broadly, her research focuses on studying white matter using Diffusion MRI. She is currently working on harmonization of diffusion MRI images acquired from multiple sites and scanners.
