Lipeng received his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2013 from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN. He obtained his M.S. and B.S. from Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China, in 2008 and 2006, respectively. He joined the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory as a postdoctoral research fellow in December 2013. He became an Instructor in 2015 and Assistant Professor in February 2019.

His research interests involve developing computational tools to improve the acquisition and reconstruction of MRI data and algorithms that improve the analysis of structural and functional networks of human brains. His is particularly interested in the application of signal processing, control theory and machine-learning techniques in neuroimaging research. His current research projects focus on using computational neuroimaging tools to improve the application of neuromodulation therapies to treat mental disorders.
